Stockholm Gains a Fresh Eastern Europe Link

Wizz Air is adding a new direct route from Stockholm Arlanda to Bucharest Băneasa, scheduled to start on 30 March 2026. The flight will operate three times a week and marks another step in the airline’s steady build-up at Sweden’s largest airport. The new service also lifts the total number of Wizz Air destinations from Arlanda, underlining continued demand for international routes linking Sweden with Eastern Europe.
The Stockholm–Bucharest Băneasa flights will run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Services are planned with Airbus A321 aircraft offering 239 seats. Bucharest Băneasa Airport sits closer to the city centre than the capital’s main airport and is commonly used for short-haul and regional services, making it a convenient arrival point for travellers heading into central Bucharest.

The addition of Bucharest brings Wizz Air’s total number of routes from Stockholm Arlanda to five, extending the airline’s reach across Eastern and Central Europe.
The new service makes Bucharest easier to reach for short trips, family visits and travel within Romania. Băneasa Airport sits closer to the city centre, cutting transfer times to central neighbourhoods, cultural venues and business areas, which suits shorter stays. The route also adds a direct link between Scandinavia and South-Eastern Europe, expanding options for regional travel.
This expansion underlines how Stockholm Arlanda continues to attract additional low-cost capacity as airlines respond to steady cross-border demand. More direct routes give travellers greater flexibility when planning trips, especially outside traditional hubs. For those flying between Sweden and Eastern Europe, the new service offers another straightforward option, adding choice without complicating travel plans.
