A historic train route connecting Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia has been revived, offering tickets at surprisingly affordable prices. The route, which dates back 150 years, has been reopened after more than three decades, promising travelers a scenic journey through these picturesque countries.

Reopened for the first time in over 30 years, this train line includes eight stops, providing a unique and historic travel experience. The service begins at Villa Opicina station in Trieste, Italy, at 7:50 am, making its first stop at Sezana, Slovenia, before continuing through Divaca, Pivka, and Ilirska Bistrica, reaching the final Slovenian stop at 8:54 am.

The train then crosses into Croatia, stopping at Sapjane, Opatija Matulji, and ending in Rijeka. This route not only offers a picturesque journey but also a sustainable and economical travel option for tourists.

This initiative aims to boost tourism by making it easier and more affordable for people to explore these three European nations. It provides a sustainable transportation alternative, helping reduce car dependency and contributing to environmental conservation.

Operated by Slovenian Railways, the route is part of a broader effort to enhance regional connectivity and promote public transport for tourism. If successful, there are hopes for the service to continue beyond its initial run, which is scheduled until late September.

The project is aligned with sustainable tourism goals, focusing on both economic and environmental benefits. It seeks to improve the visitor experience while highlighting the cultural and natural beauty of the regions.
