Hilton Opens Onsen Retreat Near Ha Long Bay
Hilton has opened Hilton Quang Hanh Onsen Resort in northern Vietnam, introducing its first onsen-style resort in South East Asia. Located in Quang Ninh Province near Ha Long Bay, the property centres its concept around natural hot mineral springs found in the Quang Hanh valley. The opening marks Hilton Hotels & Resorts’ third property in Vietnam and reflects continued expansion across the country’s growing tourism market.
Set roughly 30 minutes from Ha Long and around two and a half hours by road from Hanoi, the resort sits close to well-known cultural and natural attractions. Nearby sites include Long Tien Pagoda, Bao Hai Linh Thong Pagoda and Sung Sot Cave. The location places visitors within reach of northern Vietnam’s heritage areas while offering a quieter setting away from the region’s busiest coastal gateways.
Resort features at Hilton Quang Hanh Onsen Resort
- 178 villas and 38 guest rooms with private onsens
- Access to hot and cold saunas in all accommodation
- Direct entry to Yoko Onsen Quang Hanh with 27 baths
- Indoor pool overlooking mountain scenery
- Spa, fitness centre and Kids’ Club facilities
Dining is spread across several venues, including Genji, a modern Japanese restaurant with sushi and teppanyaki counters, alongside Genji Bar offering panoramic views and light meals. Flexible meeting and private dining spaces allow the resort to host events and gatherings. Some villas are already open for bookings, with further accommodation scheduled to open later this year as construction progresses.
The resort adds another wellness-focused option near Ha Long Bay, an area already known for limestone islands, cave systems and coastal cruises. Easier access to mineral spring bathing encourages longer stays beyond traditional overnight visits linked to the bay itself. Travellers exploring northern Vietnam can now combine heritage sightseeing with slower itineraries centred on relaxation and mountain landscapes.
Interest in quieter parts of northern Vietnam continues to grow, with more visitors choosing destinations centred around natural hot springs rather than major cities or crowded cruise routes. Time spent in Quang Hanh now allows visitors to combine local sightseeing with time to slow down, rather than following tightly packed itineraries centred on the region’s busiest attractions.
