Ryanair will restore direct flights between Bremen and Lamezia Terme in southern Italy this autumn, returning Italy to Bremen’s nonstop network after six years. The route is aimed at passengers across northwest Germany who currently need to connect elsewhere for Calabria. Bremen Airport said demand for direct Italian services has been strong, while Ryanair highlighted Italy’s continuing popularity among German holidaymakers.

Reggio Calabria is around 75 minutes by car from Lamezia Terme Airport, where ferries cross to Sicily several times a day in roughly 30 minutes. The route supports trips combining Calabria with Sicily, alongside stays focused on beaches, thermal sites and hiking in southern Italy.

The Friday and Sunday timetable suits weekend breaks, but it also works for longer trips around southern Italy. Onward transport needs planning, as smaller coastal towns, mountain villages and the Sicily ferry may require a hire car or carefully timed connections. Travellers should compare airport transfers before choosing accommodation, particularly when continuing beyond Lamezia Terme rather than staying in the city.
