Gdańsk Scores New Mallorca Link as Budget Carriers Boost Summer Choice

Ryanair will add a new seasonal route between Gdańsk and Palma de Mallorca from 2 April 2026, starting with a weekly Thursday service before moving to twice weekly in May, with flights on Thursdays and Sundays. The new link forms part of the airline’s spring–summer timetable, aimed at tapping demand for Mediterranean leisure travel once weather in northern Europe begins to improve.

The route sits alongside the airline’s wider expansion in Gdańsk. In December 2025, Ryanair announced it would base a sixth aircraft at the airport for summer 2026, adding capacity for over 300,000 extra seats. At the same time, five additional destinations were confirmed - Rome, Dubrovnik, Tirana, Palermo and Bucharest - plus more flights on existing Mediterranean routes such as Alicante, Barcelona, Málaga and Malta.

Competition is already lining up on the Mallorca connection. Wizz Air has scheduled its own Gdańsk–Palma flights from 30 March 2026, operating twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays throughout the summer season. With two low-cost carriers on the same city pair, schedules now cover four different travel days each week, offering more choice for long weekends and flexible returns.

Why Mallorca matters for Polish holidaymakers

  • Beaches, cycling routes and hiking in the Tramuntana
  • Palma’s cathedral, old town and harbourfront
  • Easy connections to smaller island towns and resorts
  • Popular family resorts in Alcúdia and Cala d’Or
  • Warm spring temperatures compared with the Baltic coast

For travellers in northern Poland, Mallorca has long required connections via Warsaw, Frankfurt or Barcelona outside peak periods. The new nonstops make it simpler to reach Spain’s largest Balearic island without changing planes, opening up both city stays in Palma and resort breaks along the bay. The spread of flight days also makes short breaks viable, especially at the shoulder of the season.

Budget airlines expanding in Gdańsk is another sign that secondary European airports are becoming gateways for summer leisure traffic rather than relying on hub connections. It gives Polish holidaymakers more direct access to the Mediterranean and adds healthy competition on pricing. As summer schedules continue to fill, Gdańsk joins Kraków and Katowice in offering a broad Mediterranean map without the need to route through Warsaw.
