AnimaWings has launched a new direct route linking London Gatwick Airport with Bucharest Otopeni Airport, expanding options for travel between the United Kingdom and Romania. The service began on 22 March and operates six times per week from Gatwick’s South Terminal. The new connection strengthens links between the two countries and adds another European destination to the airport’s growing network.

Flights on the route are operated using Airbus A220-300 aircraft configured with three cabin classes: Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy. The airline’s entry into Gatwick introduces another full-service option on a route that serves both business and leisure demand. The schedule is designed to offer regular departures throughout the week, helping improve flexibility when planning short visits or longer stays.

“We’re delighted to welcome AnimaWings to London Gatwick, bringing a new six-times weekly connection to Bucharest Otopeni on their modern A220 aircraft. The service adds greater choice for passengers travelling between the UK and Romania and further strengthens our extensive European network. It’s fantastic to see a new carrier join the airport and we look forward to supporting AnimaWings as they begin operations at London Gatwick."
Jonny Macneal, Head of Aviation Development, London Gatwick

London Gatwick continues to expand its list of airlines, with AnimaWings becoming one of several new carriers joining the airport this year. The addition reflects steady interest in routes connecting the UK with Central and Eastern Europe. Bucharest Otopeni Airport is Romania’s main international airport, with flights to cities across the country as well as links to nearby European destinations.

Bucharest is known for its wide boulevards, historic buildings and a large number of restaurants offering both Romanian and international food. Many visitors begin their trip in the capital before travelling further across the country, including Transylvania’s historic towns and the Carpathian Mountains. The new route makes it easier to reach these places without adding extra connections.

Six weekly flights give more direct options when planning trips between the UK and Romania, avoiding the need to connect through other airports. Regular flights allow both short trips and longer stays to be planned more easily in different parts of the country. As new European routes appear, travel planning becomes more straightforward, with steadier schedules and more ways to reach cities known for historic streets, mountain scenery and active cultural life.
