Air travel is not a cheap pleasure. However, there are times when you are generously rewarded for the money you spend.

For example, Delta Airlines has offered selected passengers flying through Atlanta a ride in an exciting Porsche 918 Spyder hypercar. This is reported by The Drive.

The car can only be provided at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. This means that in order to be able to be a driver in a hybrid hypercar, you need to at least connect at this particular airport.

ATL is one of the busiest airports in the world with nearly 725,000 takeoffs and landings in 2022. Delta has a long history of partnerships with Porsche, and the airport is located about five miles from Porsche's Experience Center, where the navy blue 918 was previously on display.

Although you don't need to fly first class to travel by car, you do need to be a Delta Medallion member. But the rest is a lottery. If you're selected, you'll notice the Delta Elite Services team waiting by the Porsche 918 with a sign with your name on it.

The event was held in July and is likely to be repeated due to its great success.

A Porsche 918 is a car worth more than a million dollars, so the opportunity to drive one is a dream come true. But for those who spend thousands of dollars on airline tickets every year (at least enough to maintain their Delta Medallion status), a ride in a 918 can be a pretty compelling perk.

It's a pretty smart marketing campaign for both companies and an even better opportunity for those lucky enough to be in the passenger seat.
