Ostrava’s Leoš Janáček Airport will add a regular route to Antalya starting in the summer 2026 season, strengthening its leisure network. The service will be operated by SunExpress and marks the first scheduled connection between the Moravian-Silesian region and Turkey’s Mediterranean coast. Flights are planned to run through the main summer period, responding to steady demand for Turkey as a holiday destination among travellers using the Ostrava airport.

SunExpress will operate the route twice a week, with departures scheduled on Wednesdays and Sundays. The first flight is set for 24 May, and services will continue until the end of October. Aircraft used on the route will be Boeing 737-800 jets with a capacity of 189 seats. Tickets are already available through the airline’s website and selected ticket sellers, allowing early planning for the peak summer months.

Turkey has consistently ranked among the most popular destinations served by Ostrava, with Antalya regularly appearing at the top of passenger statistics. The city’s airport plays a key role as a gateway to resorts along the Turkish Riviera as well as to major historical sites inland. Local airport officials say the new scheduled service is intended to appeal not only to package-holiday customers but also to independent travellers.

What the new route opens up

  • Beach resorts along the Turkish Riviera
  • Historic sites such as Perge, Aspendos and Side
  • Coastal cities and marinas around Antalya
  • Day trips into the Taurus Mountains

With its location and transport links, Antalya allows easy access to both seaside resorts and cultural landmarks, making short and longer stays more flexible.

The addition of a regular Antalya service reflects how regional airports are focusing on routes with proven, repeat demand rather than experimental destinations. For travellers in northern Moravia and Silesia, the new connection reduces reliance on larger hubs and shortens the journey to one of the Mediterranean’s busiest summer regions. It also underlines Ostrava Airport’s role as a practical departure point for seasonal travel.
