US warned its citizens against travelling to Mexico
The U.S. Embassy and Consulate warned its citizens about the dangers of spring break in Mexico. It is reported that at this time there is a potential threat to tourists, including crime, drugs and sexual violence.
These factors should be taken into account by those travellers who still go on a trip to the country. This was reported by AOL.
The advice for American citizens states, "Travellers should maintain a high level of awareness of the situation, avoid areas where illegal activities are taking place, and leave potentially dangerous situations immediately. U.S. citizens should exercise extra caution in the central areas of popular spring break destinations, including Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum, especially after dark."
In addition, tourists have been shot dead from purchasing questionable medicines in the country, as well as from drug and alcohol use. In particular, this is due to potential cases of crime, rape and violence.
In addition, Americans are not advised to engage in destructive behaviour that could lead to arrest. This includes disorderly conduct while intoxicated, public urination, transportation of alcohol in open containers in vehicles, and possession of weapons, including ammunition.
The government recommends that travellers stay in a group, take care of safety, and take care of medical or travel insurance.
Earlier, TravelWise reported that this year the British are not recommended to go on vacation to Egypt and Cyprus.
