Loganair to Leave Dundee Airport This October
Loganair will stop flying from Dundee Airport later this year, ending its link with London Heathrow and closing its operating base in the city. The final Dundee–Heathrow service is scheduled for 23 October 2026. The airline said the Public Service Obligation route had become financially unsustainable and that attempts to find another workable arrangement had not produced a viable solution.

The London service currently runs twice on weekdays and once on Sundays. Loganair moved it from London Stansted to Heathrow in 2023, giving Dundee passengers a direct link to the UK’s main international hub. The closure will also affect seasonal flights linking Dundee with Kirkwall in Orkney and Sumburgh in Shetland. Customers with affected bookings will be contacted directly by the airline.
Dundee will still have other ways to reach the destinations losing direct flights. LNER operates direct trains between Dundee and London King’s Cross, with journeys taking around six hours. Orkney and Shetland remain served by Loganair from Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow. Kirkwall and Sumburgh therefore remain accessible by air, although travellers starting in Dundee will need to use another Scottish airport after the withdrawal.
Once Loganair leaves Dundee, trips that currently start at the local airport will require an extra leg. London-bound travellers can use the train or travel to another airport, while future Orkney and Shetland journeys will need a different Scottish departure point. That matters most for people who chose Dundee to avoid travelling first to Edinburgh, Aberdeen or Glasgow before beginning the main part of their trip.
