Riga Returns to Aberdeen’s Summer Flight Board

airBaltic has resumed its direct summer service between Aberdeen and Riga, restoring a link between the North East of Scotland and Latvia. The route will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, until September. Flights are operated by the airline’s Airbus A220-300 aircraft, giving passengers another option for trips into Eastern Europe during the summer season.
The return also gives Aberdeen passengers access to airBaltic’s wider network across the Baltic region, Finland and Scandinavia. The airline said the aircraft can carry up to 149 passengers and is among the most efficient in its class. Customers on the route can also use complimentary high-speed SpaceX Starlink internet as airBaltic continues rolling out the service.
Aberdeen International Airport said the Riga service supports both leisure and business travel and strengthens links with Eastern Europe. airBaltic also pointed to the route’s role in improving access between the UK and Latvia, as well as supporting economic, cultural and tourism ties between the two countries during the summer schedule.
The route makes Riga easier to reach for travellers looking beyond the usual summer city-break choices. Latvia’s capital offers historic streets, striking architecture and a growing food and culture scene, while onward airBaltic connections can open up trips to Tallinn, Vilnius, Helsinki and Scandinavian cities without starting the journey at a larger UK airport.
For Aberdeen, the returning route adds a useful international link during the busiest travel months. It gives local passengers a direct way into the Baltics and reduces the need for extra transfers through bigger hubs. With onboard Wi-Fi and two weekly departures, the service is practical for short breaks, work trips and longer multi-country plans.
