Paderborn Gets More Greek Island Flights
TUI has started its summer 2026 programme at Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport, with an early Freebird Europe flight leaving for Heraklion in Crete at 5am. The departure marked the official start of the tour operator’s Greek island schedule from the airport, with holidaymakers on board for one of the region’s most popular summer destinations.
Airport managing director Roland Hüser said the Greek islands remain among the most popular destinations at Paderborn/Lippstadt. TUI will offer three Greek routes from the airport this summer, giving local travellers more direct options for beach holidays without having to start their trip at a larger German airport farther away.
TUI’s Greek Island Schedule
The programme will build over the next few months:
- Heraklion, Crete: up to four flights a week
- Kos: weekly Saturday flights starting 23 May
- Rhodes: weekly flights starting 2 July
- Rhodes flights will be operated by Aegean Airlines for TUI for the first time
The schedule gives travellers easier access to several well-known Greek island stays. Crete opens up to Heraklion, Knossos, northern beach resorts and longer road trips across the island. Kos adds another option for relaxed coastal breaks, while Rhodes brings medieval streets, Lindos, family resorts and sunny island-hopping potential closer to passengers using Paderborn/Lippstadt.
The useful point is simple: this is a practical summer boost for people in the airport’s catchment area. More Greek island flights mean fewer transfers, less time spent reaching other departure airports and a cleaner route into classic holiday territory. Crete is already running, while Kos and Rhodes give travellers extra dates to work around school holidays and peak prices.
