Once a week nonstop flights between Manchester and Bangkok will begin on 26 November 2025, operated by Norse Atlantic Airways. Leaving Manchester late in the evening, the flight arrives in Bangkok the next afternoon, providing passengers with the chance to travel overnight and adjust to the time difference with greater comfort. This direct service establishes a connection between two major cities and is expected to offer passengers in both regions a wider range of travel options.

This service establishes Manchester as the only UK airport outside London to offer a direct flight to Bangkok. The new connection:

  • Removes the need for stopovers, simplifying travel
  • Provides nonstop access to an important Southeast Asian destination
  • Responds to rising demand for long-haul flights from northern England
  • Expands Manchester Airport’s international network
  • Offers more direct travel options for passengers

Visitors to Bangkok have access to numerous important cultural attractions across the city. The Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, home to the revered Emerald Buddha, continue to be important religious landmarks. Wat Pho is famous for its large reclining Buddha statue and its historic Thai massage school. The Temple of Dawn, or Wat Arun, is situated along the Chao Phraya River and features a striking spire covered in porcelain.

Visitors interested in art and urban heritage will find the Jim Thompson House a notable destination in Bangkok. The Bangkok museum features a comprehensive collection that highlights the historical, artistic, and cultural legacy of Thailand. This expansive city park features botanical gardens, lakes, and freely roaming monitor lizards, offering a peaceful retreat from the urban rush.

This direct flight is expected to benefit travellers by reducing total journey times and eliminating the inconvenience of connections. It may encourage increased travel between northern England and Bangkok for both leisure and business. Expanding long-haul flights from regional airports is becoming more common, and this route highlights that change by offering passengers easier and more direct travel choices.
