Lufthansa Adds Lapland Routes in Winter 2026
Lufthansa will update its winter 2026/27 schedule in Northern Europe, adding new routes and more flights to several Nordic destinations. From 4 December 2026, a direct Munich–Rovaniemi service will start, operating twice a week on Fridays and Sundays. The route will be served by Airbus A320neo aircraft.
Alongside the new Rovaniemi service, Lufthansa is adding more flights on existing Nordic routes. Services between Frankfurt and Tromsø, as well as Munich and Tromsø, will each increase by two weekly rotations. These changes follow steady interest in winter trips to the region, especially during the colder months when travel demand rises.
Winter 2026/27 route changes
- Munich – Rovaniemi: new route, 2 weekly flights from 4 December
- Frankfurt – Tromsø: +2 weekly flights
- Munich – Tromsø: +2 weekly flights
- Frankfurt – Rovaniemi: 3 weekly flights (Feb–Mar 2027)
- Frankfurt – Kuusamo: 2 weekly flights (Feb–Mar 2027)
- Munich – Kittilä: up to 3 weekly flights (Feb–Mar 2027)
The expansion makes it easier to reach parts of northern Finland and Norway that are typically harder to access in winter. Rovaniemi joins other Nordic destinations already served by the airline, including Tromsø and Kittilä. These locations offer access to winter sports, northern lights viewing and quieter landscapes away from larger European cities.
Lufthansa Group now operates up to 69 weekly flights to nine airports within the Arctic Circle. More flights mean more options when choosing dates for winter travel, especially at busy times. With additional flights across several routes, it becomes less difficult to secure suitable travel dates, particularly for destinations where availability has often been limited in previous seasons. As schedules expand, travellers will have more choice when picking dates and connections.
