Finnair has clarified its travel policies for passengers flying with infants under two years old. Infants must be at least two days old and have a valid passport to board. Usually, babies travel on a parent’s lap with a ticket priced at 10% of the adult fare. Cabin crew provide a separate safety belt that attaches to the adult’s belt and must be worn during takeoff, landing, and turbulence. Parents can also buy a separate seat for their infant if using an approved child restraint device, with child fares available at a discount.

When it comes to baggage, infants without a reserved seat are only allowed to bring a foldable pushchair and a safety seat onboard but have no separate carry-on allowance. If a separate seat is purchased, the infant receives the same checked baggage allowance as an adult in the same class. Parents can bring milk and baby food through security in original packaging, including frozen breast milk at Helsinki Airport. Though there is no onboard refrigeration, cabin crew can warm baby food with hot water when requested.

These regulations offer valuable clarity to families traveling with infants on Finnair, helping them plan their trips more effectively. Knowing the seating options and baggage limits ahead of time reduces confusion at the airport and during the flight. Being able to buy a separate seat equipped with a child restraint enhances both safety and comfort for infants while making travel less stressful for parents.

Additionally, bringing foldable pushchairs and safety seats into the cabin without extra baggage fees supports travelers carrying essential baby equipment. Infants younger than six months and weighing no more than 9 kilograms can use baby bassinets on long-haul flights, with flight attendants helping to install them. These features improve comfort and make travel easier for families on extended flights with young children.

Finnair’s established guidelines and support efforts demonstrate a stronger focus on accommodating families with young children. Through clear procedures and hands-on assistance, traveling with infants can be made more secure and less complicated for all those involved. This approach helps create a smoother travel experience by addressing some of the common challenges parents face during flights.
