Edinburgh–New York Flights Continue Through Winter With Delta

Delta Air Lines will operate flights between Edinburgh and New York (JFK) throughout the year, extending the route beyond its usual summer schedule. The airline plans to add three weekly services in January and February, allowing the connection between Scotland’s busiest airport and the United States to remain available during the winter season as well as the peak summer travel period.
The Edinburgh–New York route has previously operated on a seasonal basis, mainly during the months with higher travel demand. The decision to maintain the service year-round introduces additional travel options during a period when transatlantic flight choices are typically more limited. The change also strengthens links between Scotland and Delta’s wider network through its hub at New York’s JFK Airport.
Delta already operates seasonal routes between Edinburgh and other major US cities, including Atlanta and Boston, during the summer months. The continuation of the New York service through winter increases flexibility for journeys taking place outside peak travel periods. It also supports access to connecting flights within the United States through Delta’s hub system at JFK.

Winter flights between Edinburgh and New York make it possible to plan trips that include Scotland together with major US cities often reached through JFK Airport. Many destinations on the East Coast and further inland can be reached using connecting domestic flights, giving access to both short city visits and longer travel across the United States without waiting for the summer season.
“We look forward to working with our colleagues at Delta to making this extension a success and to exploring opportunities for further improvements in the future."
Keeping the Edinburgh–New York route active throughout the year provides more stable flight options when organising travel in different months. Direct access to a major hub such as JFK reduces the need to search for alternative routes through other European airports. Regular long-haul flights during winter also allow travel planning outside peak periods, when available options are usually fewer.
