On the weekend of 17 and 18 May, Zurich Airport will open parts of the Circle complex to the public for a two-day event called the Circle Frühlingsfest. Activities will take place from 11:00 to 19:00 on Saturday and from 10:00 to 18:00 on Sunday. The programme includes guided tours, thematic sessions and temporary access to selected zones that are usually closed to visitors. Admission is free and registration is not required.

Organisations based within the Circle will contribute to the programme. These include hotel walkthroughs, short lectures on health topics and a walking trail arranged by University Hospital Zurich. Visitors will also be able to attend information sessions that provide an overview of the complex’s design, function and institutional tenants. The event is intended as a way to make the site more accessible to the wider public.

Travellers spending time at Zurich Airport between flights may find the Circle Frühlingsfest a practical option for a short break. It only takes a few minutes to walk from the terminal to the event so you can get there easily without leaving the airport area. Even those with limited layovers can take part in short walks or sessions, offering a chance to move around and step away from busy waiting areas without affecting their travel schedule.

Visitors will be able to purchase food from regular on-site restaurants as well as temporary stands set up for the event. A range of items such as warm meals, snacks and beverages will be available. Public seating areas will be provided across the complex for eating, but there will be no formal dining or advance reservations. Each vendor will handle their own sales directly at their stalls.

The event illustrates how non-terminal infrastructure at Zurich Airport is being made available for temporary public use. Although the Circle operates primarily as a commercial and service-oriented zone, its integration into passenger routines especially during long stopovers shows a shift toward mixed-use planning at major transport hubs. The weekend access programme may serve as a trial for similar future initiatives.
