Rosewood Opens First Alpine Winter Resort in Courchevel 1850
Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin is set to open this December in the Jardin Alpin enclave of Courchevel 1850, marking Rosewood Hotel Group’s first winter resort and its second property in mainland France. Located within one of the Alps’ most established ski destinations, the resort introduces a new hospitality offering shaped around ski access, residential-style accommodation, and design references drawn from Courchevel’s mid-20th-century development.
The property features 51 rooms and suites, including three private houses designed to accommodate families and larger groups. Each residence opens onto seated terraces overlooking the slopes of Les Trois Vallées, the world’s largest ski area. The largest house, Jardin Alpin Apartment, includes four bedrooms, a private lift entrance, a cinema room, and indoor and outdoor dining spaces intended for extended stays during the winter season.

Interior design has been led by Tristan Auer, whose work combines stone, timber, copper details, and mirrored surfaces to create a contemporary alpine chalet atmosphere. The architectural concept emphasises intimacy over scale, with fireplaces, terraces, and panoramic glazing framing mountain views. Public spaces feature an installation by Olafur Eliasson, positioned within the resort’s shared areas.
Beyond accommodation, the resort provides direct ski-in ski-out access and a dedicated ski concierge service. Les Trois Vallées offers terrain for a wide range of skiing abilities, alongside options such as early and late piste access, private lessons, and dining in remote mountain settings. Courchevel’s established lift network also links guests to neighbouring villages and resorts across the valley.
The opening adds a new option for winter travellers seeking longer alpine stays that combine skiing, dining, and wellness in a single location. With its residential focus, direct slope access, and location within an established resort rather than a purpose-built complex, Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin reflects a broader shift toward slower, place-centred winter travel that prioritises access, comfort, and time spent on the mountain rather than constant movement.
