Starting late evening on Saturday, August 10, and concluding early morning on Saturday, August 17, engineers will be renewing over 1700 meters of track between Woodbridge and Westerfield Junction. This extensive work aims to enhance passenger journeys and prepare the line for increased freight traffic.

During the maintenance period from August 11 to 16, Greater Anglia train services will be disrupted. Buses will replace trains between Saxmundham and Ipswich, while train services between Lowestoft and Saxmundham will continue to operate.

For travelers, this means planning ahead to accommodate longer travel times and potential delays. The improvements will provide a smoother and quieter ride in the future, ensuring a more comfortable travel experience. Travelers are advised to check schedules and allow extra time for their journeys during this period.

East Suffolk is a picturesque region known for its charming coastal towns, historic sites, and beautiful countryside. Popular destinations include the seaside town of Aldeburgh, famous for its music festival, and the historic market town of Woodbridge, home to the Tide Mill and scenic riverside walks. In the summer, visitors can enjoy festivals, outdoor activities, and explore the region’s nature reserves and heritage sites.

This track work may temporarily impact travel plans for those looking to explore East Suffolk's attractions. However, with careful planning and by checking travel schedules in advance, travelers can still enjoy the many summer activities and sights the region has to offer. The improved rail service will ultimately enhance the overall travel experience, making future visits to East Suffolk even more enjoyable.
