Starting in October 2025, passengers booking with Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines or Brussels Airlines will notice a new, more convenient way to pay as the Lufthansa Group introduces Click to Pay across all its airline platforms. This system, built together with Visa, lets travelers book flights online just by typing in their email address, making the whole process quicker and easier. Instead of inputting credit or debit card information each time, users register their card once and are recognized automatically for future transactions.

The feature works even for first-time buyers and those not logged into an account. Most payments go through a secure check with your bank, usually done via your banking app on your phone. It’s a small change that makes a big difference, with no need to enter card details again and again. Lufthansa is leading the way in Europe with this early rollout, underlining its push for a more streamlined and modern journey.

For airline customers, it means an easier and more seamless booking process. It simplifies ticket purchasing, especially when booking last-minute or on the go. It also reduces common booking errors, such as mistyped card numbers or expired credentials, improving customer satisfaction. The more digital travel becomes, the more important it is to have systems that simply work and meet the growing demand for ease of use.

Security is also a major benefit of the new system. 'Click to Pay' boosts safety by replacing card numbers with encrypted tokens that offer no value to hackers. This significantly lowers the risk of payment fraud. For passengers who value safe transactions when booking trips online, this offers peace of mind and encourages more direct bookings through official airline websites.

Our partnership with Visa is a key step in making flight planning and booking easier and faster. 'Click to Pay' further enhances the travel experience for our guests.
Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer of the Lufthansa Group

Lufthansa’s move signals a broader shift in the travel industry toward safer, faster digital transactions. With airlines focusing more on digital upgrades, features like 'Click to Pay' are quickly becoming the gold standard for convenience and trust. For modern travelers who value speed, security, and efficiency, this update is a practical step forward in improving the overall flying experience.
