Finland’s Airports to Operate Normally During Peak July Travel After Strike Threat Lifted
Air travel in Finland is set to continue without disruption after a last-minute agreement was reached between the Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) and the employers' association Palta. On July 13, 2025, both parties accepted a proposal from the National Conciliator, putting an end to a prolonged labour dispute. Previously planned strikes on five days in July have been cancelled under the new deal, ensuring airport services continue without interruption.
The strikes had been planned for July 16, 18, 21, 23, and 25. If carried out, they would have affected critical airport operations, including:
- Ground handling
- Technical maintenance
- Customer service support
Effective until January 15, 2027, the new agreement updates the conditions of employment for staff across the aviation industry. Wage updates consistent with broader labour market trends are part of the deal, helping to prevent further interruptions at airports.
