easyJet extends Cagliari Basel route to winter season boosting travel opportunities
easyJet has announced that its flight route between Cagliari, Sardinia, and Basel, Switzerland, will now be available throughout the entire year. Previously limited to the summer months, this connection will operate during the winter season as well, from November 2025 through March 2026. This change is designed to keep travel routes open year-round between Sardinia and mainland Europe, offering steady options for both holidaymakers and business travelers.
During the winter period, easyJet will operate two flights weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, compared to up to four weekly flights in summer. Basel Airport functions as an important hub for passengers from Switzerland, France, and Germany, among others. By offering direct flights year-round, travelers now have more flexibility to plan trips outside the usual busy season. The adjusted flight schedule reflects seasonal demand while maintaining essential connectivity throughout the year.
We are happy to announce the extension of the Basel–Cagliari route to the winter season as well, a tangible sign of the importance that Sardinia holds in the easyJet network. The island is increasingly appreciated by European travelers, who choose it both for its natural uniqueness and its cultural richness.
This extended timetable allows travelers to discover Sardinia’s cultural and natural attractions during the less busy months. A visit to Cagliari’s Castello neighborhood gives travelers a chance to step back into medieval history while enjoying stunning views. Molentargius-Saline Regional Park is one of the few places where you can catch a glimpse of pink flamingos going about their daily lives in the wild. Nearby, the historic site of Nora offers a glimpse into the world of Roman settlers who lived along the island’s southern shore long ago.
Away from the more visited spots, the southern shores of Chia continue to shine year-round, with pristine sands and calm waters that remain a draw in winter. History buffs can start their journey at Su Nuraxi di Barumini, a UNESCO-listed site that offers a striking look into Sardinia’s mysterious Nuragic civilization and its iconic megalithic towers. With its untouched mountain scenery and crisp, fresh air, Gennargentu National Park gives adventurers a unique opportunity to explore Sardinia’s wild side well beyond the peak tourist season.
The availability of year-round flights improves travel flexibility and supports more balanced tourism across seasons. It allows for spontaneous trips during less busy months and helps local economies by spreading visitor numbers more evenly. With Basel well-connected to much of Europe, planning a trip to Sardinia becomes simpler for a wider range of travelers. This extension reflects evolving traveler needs and positions Sardinia as an accessible destination beyond the summer season.
