Spain now has more than 100 beaches where dogs are allowed, giving pet owners far more choice for summer trips along the coast. Beach days with a dog still need some planning in Spain’s summer heat. Owners should avoid the hottest part of the day, bring enough drinking water and look for shade, while hot sand can damage paw pads. Waste must be collected and other beach users respected. Before booking accommodation around a particular beach, it is worth confirming that the local dog rules apply during the exact dates of the trip.
