British Airways has suspended all flights to Dubai until the end of May, with services expected to resume in June. The airline confirmed that the decision also affects routes to Amman and Bahrain, while flights to Doha remain paused until the end of April. Abu Dhabi services have been withdrawn for the season and are not scheduled to return until late October.

The carrier typically operates around 20 weekly flights to Dubai, meaning a large number of passengers are impacted. The airline said the move was made due to continued uncertainty in the Middle East and instability in regional airspace. Customers are being contacted directly and offered alternative travel options, including rebooking or refunds.

“Due to the continuing uncertainty of the situation in the Middle East and airspace instability, and to provide more clarity to our customers, we’ve extended the temporary reduction in our flying schedule in the region."

Changes to British Airways Middle East schedule

  • Dubai flights suspended until 31 May
  • Doha flights paused until end of April
  • Abu Dhabi services cancelled until 25 October
  • Amman and Bahrain routes also affected

To limit disruption, British Airways is adding capacity through other hubs. Extra flights are being routed via Singapore and Bangkok, offering alternative ways to reach destinations normally served through Dubai. The airline has also operated relief flights from Muscat to help passengers return home during earlier stages of the disruption.

The changes shift travel patterns towards different regions. Routes through Southeast Asia may now see higher demand, while cities such as Singapore and Bangkok become more important connection points. This could open up additional stopover opportunities, giving access to destinations that might not have been part of original plans, especially for those travelling further into Asia.

When key routes are disrupted, flight schedules change quickly. Long-haul trips often need adjustments, such as different dates or new connections. Airlines are continuing to revise their timetables, and more changes to routes and schedules are expected while the situation remains unsettled.
