Air Serbia has introduced self-service check-in kiosks and automated baggage drop-off stations at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport. The system was developed together with the airport and technology partners SITA and IER. It is designed to make check-in more straightforward, shorten queues, and give passengers more choice in how they complete their pre-flight steps.

A total of 10 kiosks are now available for passengers to check in independently, including document verification. After completing check-in, those travelling with hold luggage can proceed to one of 10 automated bag drop stations. The process allows passengers to tag and hand over their baggage without staff assistance, following a series of on-screen instructions.

The new equipment is installed near the Premium check-in area and is available only to Air Serbia passengers. According to the airline, the system is part of ongoing changes across its services, focusing on how passengers move through the airport. The goal is to make each step quicker and more predictable, especially during busy periods when queues tend to build.

What has changed at Belgrade Airport

  • 10 self-service kiosks for check-in
  • 10 automated baggage drop stations
  • Document checks completed at kiosks
  • Bag drop handled without staff assistance

The update may also make short trips and last-minute bookings easier to manage. With less time spent waiting at counters, travellers can arrive later at the airport and still move through formalities at a steady pace. This is particularly useful for regional routes across Europe, where shorter travel times often depend on quick and smooth airport procedures.

Air travel is increasingly moving towards self-service options. More airports and airlines are changing how check-in and baggage are handled, with machines taking over routine steps. Staff are still present when needed, but many basic actions can now be done independently. This allows passengers to manage their time more freely and helps airports deal with higher numbers without adding more check-in desks.
