Vietnam is becoming a hot spot for tourists after the lifting of pandemic restrictions
Following the lifting of pandemic restrictions, tourist arrivals are increasing around the world, including in Asia. For example, the number of foreign tourists in Vietnam exceeded three million in the first two months of the year.
This figure is 68.7% higher than in the same period last year. In particular, in February alone, more than 1.5 million foreign citizens arrived in the country, which is 1.3% more than in January and 64.1% more than last year, according to VOV.
According to statistics for the two-month period, Asia was the largest source of tourism in the country with approximately 2.3 million arrivals. Europe was in second place with 426,000 arrivals, while America was the third largest source of foreign visitors with 202,000 arrivals.
The study also shows that the number of searches for Vietnam from China during the Lunar New Year has almost completely recovered to pre-COVID-19 levels, reaching 95% compared to 2020 figures.
The researchers also note that this year Chinese tourists searched for Ho Chi Minh City, followed by Hanoi, Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc. It is also specified that in 2019, Chinese citizens were the largest source of travelers in the country, accounting for almost a third of the total number of travelers who arrived in the country.
It is noted that visa-free travel with some countries has also borne fruit. It helped Vietnam develop its tourism industry by creating favorable conditions for tourists to enter the country.
As previously reported by TravelWise, the Vietnamese authorities continue to expand the list of countries whose citizens are exempt from visas.
