United Airlines launches first-ever direct flight from Dulles to Alaska
United Airlines is planning to launch its first-ever nonstop route from Dulles to Alaska. The first flights will start in May, at the beginning of the new peak summer season.
According to the latest Cirium report, United plans to fly from Dulles International Airport to Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage. This is reported by Simple Flying.
The first flight is scheduled for May 23, just before the Memorial Day weekend.
Passengers will be able to travel daily on Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, which can carry 166 passengers. The flight will last 7 hours and 44 minutes to Alaska and 7 hours and 7 minutes in the opposite direction.
This is a historic moment for United, which previously had no direct flights from its hub in Dulles to Alaska. Thus, there is only one airport from which the company does not fly non-stop to Alaska - Los Angeles International Airport.
It is noted that United will have no competitors on the new route, as other airlines do not carry out passenger transportation in this direction from Dulles.
