Turkish Airlines Adds Stansted Link to Istanbul

London Stansted has welcomed a new Turkish Airlines service to Istanbul, adding a direct route to one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs. The first flight landed on 18 March, marking the airline’s arrival at the airport. The new connection gives passengers in London and the East of England another option for reaching Turkey’s largest city.
The service will run twice daily, forming part of a schedule of up to 15 weekly flights between Stansted and Istanbul. The route connects the airport to Turkish Airlines’ wider network, which includes more than 350 destinations across Asia, Africa and other regions. The launch strengthens Stansted’s role as an international gateway for the surrounding areas.
Airport and airline representatives pointed to the role this route will play for the region. Turkish Airlines now operates across three London airports, adding another option within the UK. Both inaugural flights were full, showing strong early interest. The launch was marked with a ribbon-cutting and a water arch on arrival.
Istanbul works as a convenient stop for longer journeys. With one connection, it’s possible to reach destinations across Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa, along with major business cities. Flight times are spaced in a way that makes connections easier to manage, so planning trips beyond Europe doesn’t always mean going through Heathrow or other larger hubs.
“The United Kingdom continues to be one of the key strategic markets for Turkish Airlines. With the addition of London Stansted flights, we are pleased to expand our presence in London to a third airport, further strengthening London Stansted’s connectivity and offering our guests greater flexibility to access our unparalleled global network. We believe this new route will not only meet regional demand but also contribute to both commercial and tourism activity across the region."
For people in the East of England, this opens up a simpler way to travel abroad. Instead of heading into central London first, many can now depart closer to home and still reach the same destinations. It cuts down the time spent getting to the airport and gives another option beyond the main London airports.
