The village of Bibury in the Cotswolds is one of the most beautiful in the world
A perfect Cotswolds village with fewer than 700 people is one of the most beautiful in the world. Bibury, situated on the River Colne in Gloucestershire, is a tiny village that attracts numerous travelers.
Despite its small size, the travel website Love Exploring named it one of the most beautiful small towns in the world. William Morris, a 19th-century textile designer, called it "the most beautiful village in England" when he visited, as express.co reports.
This tourist destination is renowned for its honey-colored stone cottages with steep roofs, once home to weavers who worked at the nearby Arlington Mill.
Arlington Row, a street of cottages in the village dating back to the 1300s, is considered one of the most photographed landmarks in the Cotswolds. It is also a world-famous architectural reserve managed by the National Trust.
This charming village doesn't boast many attractions, but it does have a trout farm, a church, an antique shop, one pub, a restaurant, and two coffee shops.
The Coln River flows near the village, with a path alongside it leading to a water meadow known as Rack Isle, where wool was once dried.
Despite its small size and population, it can get crowded in the summer due to several parking lots. There are many other beautiful Cotswold villages nearby, including Blenheim Palace, Cotswold Water Park, and Westonbirt Arboretum.
Tripadvisor reviewers hail it as "one of the best in the Cotswolds", "a quintessential chocolate box town", and the river and surrounding area as "nature at its best".
One of them said: "In a world where traffic congestion, pollution, crime, and overcrowding are degrading the quality of life, it's a reminder that there are still small pockets of beauty on the planet. If your God has a vacation home, it is probably here."
Both in the village and its surrounding area, there are many accommodations available, from hotels to vacation homes. Bibury can be reached by car via the B4425 and M4 or M5, as well as by train to neighboring Swindon, Kemble, and Cheltenham.
