The main aviation hub of Germany experienced a 21% increase in passenger traffic in 2023
Last year, Frankfurt Airport saw a notable rebound in passenger traffic, increasing by 21% compared to the previous years. Consequently, Germany's primary aviation hub served 59.4 million travelers in 2023.
However, despite this positive trend, the airport has not yet fully recovered to pre-COVID-19 levels, still experiencing a 16% decline in passenger numbers. This information was reported by Travel And Tour World.
Fraport AG, the company that owns and operates Frankfurt International Airport, stated that the airport has managed to stabilize its operations and is on the path to recovery. Additionally, based on last year's traffic, the company observes significant demand and industry recovery in major European transportation centers.
In particular, Fraport highlighted a substantial increase in traffic at most of its international locations. Ljubljana Airport, for instance, experienced a 31% rise (1.3 million passengers), and 14 regional airports in Greece recorded an 11.8% increase (33.9 million passengers).
Despite facing geopolitical challenges, global conflicts, airspace restrictions, and air traffic controller strikes, Frankfurt International Airport remains operational and anticipates further growth in the coming year.
