Staggering demand: tourists are warned about overcrowded flights to Mallorca
The Spanish island of Majorca, popular among European tourists, is preparing to receive a record number of vacationers. This is evidenced by forecasts from the Spanish Association for the Coordination and Facilitation of Air Travel, according to which the number of guests is expected to grow by 5.9%.
It is noted that 174,265 flights were made to Mallorca last year. At the same time, in the period from March to October 2024, 33.4 million passengers are expected to arrive at the resorts, using 185,192 flights, Birmingham Live reports.
Ryanair will operate the most regular flights to Mallorca - more than 40,000, which is 7.1 percent more than last year. Also, the largest number of flights to this destination will be operated by airlines such as Eurowings, Vueling, Jet2, and Air Nostrum. It is reported that the busiest day at Palma Airport will be July 13, when more than 1,000 flights will land and take off from the island.
"This summer season will be historic for Mallorca Airport, with more flights and passengers than ever before. We are working closely with all our partners to ensure that we can cope with the increased traffic and provide a smooth and efficient service for all our passengers," said a spokesperson for the Spanish airports association AENA.
