Saaremaa Gets an Easier Summer Flight Link
Finnair will launch flights on the Helsinki–Kuressaare route on 8 June, making Estonia’s largest island easier to reach for summer trips. Kuressaare is the main town on Saaremaa, known for its slower pace, sea air and compact centre. The new service gives visitors a simpler way to reach the island without building the whole journey around longer ground connections.
Kuressaare is easy to explore on foot, with many of its main sights close together. Lossi Street leads towards Kuressaare Castle, one of the best-preserved medieval castles in the Baltics. The town also has spa hotels, a harbour, calm streets and a beach near the centre, making it practical for short breaks as well as longer stays.
Beyond Kuressaare, Saaremaa is better explored by car. Renting one makes it easier to reach the island’s coast, villages, lighthouses and countryside without depending on limited local transport.
