Norwich Airport Raises Drop-Off Fee
Norwich Airport has increased its drop-off charge, adding another UK airport to the list of hubs charging more for short car stops. Since 1 June, drivers using the airport’s drop-off area pay £8 for up to 20 minutes. The previous charge was £6 for a 30-minute stay, meaning the price has risen while the allowed time has been cut.
The change has drawn criticism from passengers, drivers and local taxi operators. Courtesy Taxis in Norwich said customers now have to be warned that the higher airport charge may be added to their fare. Norwich Airport said the rise is linked to higher business costs, including rates, employment costs and energy bills, while infrastructure investment continues.

The airport says increased costs cannot keep being absorbed without passing some of the burden on.
The higher charge matters for people using Norwich for regional and European trips with airlines including Ryanair, KLM and TUI. Quick family drop-offs, taxi rides and early departures may now cost more than expected. Travellers heading for city breaks, package holidays or connecting flights should factor the fee into airport plans, especially if they are being driven rather than using public transport.
Norwich is not the only UK airport raising drop-off costs. Stansted increased its express drop-off charge earlier this year, while Gatwick’s 10-minute fee has also climbed since its launch in 2021. Drivers heading to Norwich now need to check the charge before arriving, especially if a taxi fare or a quick family drop-off is part of the journey.
