New Direct Flight from Manila to Vietnam Makes Travel Easier for Explorers

Philippine Airlines will be launching a new direct air service between Manila, Philippines and Da Nang, Vietnam from 1 July 2025. The service will run three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The addition is part of the airline’s broader effort to strengthen regional air connectivity and respond to growing travel demand between secondary cities in Southeast Asia.

According to the published schedule, Flight PR 585 will depart Manila at 11:10 AM and arrive in Da Nang at 12:45 PM. The return flight, PR 586, will leave Da Nang at 1:35 PM and land in Manila at 5:10 PM. The timing allows travelers to avoid overnight journeys and facilitates easier coordination with local hotel check-in times or connecting travel plans.

The new route is a better alternative for the passengers who normally have to go through the mega-hub of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi or Bangkok. Da Nang, a city on Vietnam’s central coast, has become a notable destination for both domestic and international visitors due to its beaches, proximity to UNESCO heritage sites, and growing tourism infrastructure. Direct Manila connection would allow both ways to increase inbound/outbound travel between these two countries.

This change may offer time savings and reduce the complexity of trip planning. It is particularly relevant for those arranging short-term stays, weekend trips, or regional business travel. Direct city to city routes between cities of similar size can also help advance a larger push for tourism decoupling and relieve stressed-overloaded airports.

With air travel returning to some semblance of normalcy after years of being disrupted, routes such as Manila–Da Nang might be indicative of a move towards these specific and passenger-focused planning. These types of connections often reflect a recalibration in airline strategies — focusing less on volume and more on accessibility and route relevance to modern travelers.
