Manchester Airport has resumed flights to Casablanca
Manchester Airport has announced a new direct route to the Moroccan coastal city of Casablanca. Royal Air Maroc will operate flights three times a week.
The route is in addition to the existing lines to the Moroccan capital, Marrakech, providing travelers with more destination options. Casablanca evokes images of the golden age of Hollywood, thanks to the 1942 film of the same name starring Humphrey Bogart, writes Manchester Evening News.
Casablanca boasts a romantic atmosphere with its Art Deco architecture and sea views. It serves as the perfect gateway for further exploration of sub-Saharan Africa, offering opportunities for travelers.
"We pride ourselves on connecting the North to the world and we are always looking for exciting new routes to offer people," says Lucy Hinton, Head of Aviation Business Development at Manchester Airport. She emphasizes that Casablanca is a truly exciting destination, blending modern Morocco with traditional attractions and a stunning waterfront.
This marks the first time since the pandemic that passengers from the region will have direct flights to Casablanca. Flights will operate three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, lasting approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes aboard a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
"As part of its expansion plan, Royal Air Maroc is delighted to contribute to strengthening connections between Morocco and the UK by reinstating direct flights from Manchester to Casablanca. This new service facilitates travel from the North to Morocco and beyond," said Zoubida Smahi, General Manager of Royal Air Maroc in the UK.
The airline highlights Casablanca's role as a commercial hub and strategic gateway to sub-Saharan Africa. As a leading carrier in West Africa, the Moroccan national airline is committed to promoting the African continent's prominence in global transportation.
"As a major player in the region, Royal Air Maroc is proud to be a member of the oneworld alliance, providing more destinations and benefits for frequent flyers, as well as convenient transfers for passengers traveling on all member airlines," Smahi added.
If you choose to fly with EasyJet, don't forget to check the strict baggage allowance. According to TravelWise, this will help tourists prevent excessive costs.
