In Dublin, a small puppy was "sold" for drugs
The police confirmed that they had seized the puppy and that the dog had been placed in the care of My Lovely Horse Rescue. She was named Annabelle because the staff thought she deserved a "beautiful name."
One of the co-founders of the rescue said they were not surprised by the way the animal was treated and how "people could just use her for barter as an object." They also said that Annabelle was doing well. This information was published by agriland.ie.
My Lovely Horse Rescue said that things are "only going up and up" for Annabelle. The Police Service of Northern Ireland reported that the investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, a court in Northern Ireland has found a man guilty and fined him for transporting puppies that were not fit for travel. The court found that some of the puppies were less than eight weeks old.
The 41-year-old transporter pleaded guilty and was fined £400 plus £15 in court costs.
The case arose as part of DAERA's Paws for Thought campaign, which involves enhanced export checks for all puppies at Northern Ireland ports.
Earlier, TravelWise reported that 87 animals were seized from passengers' luggage in Bangkok.
