Holiday journeys: Lithuanian Railways launches Christmas trains
On the eve of the Christmas holidays, Lithuanian Railways (LTG) has prepared a pleasant surprise for its passengers. Four trains are being launched in full holiday decorations under the new project.
The new initiative aims to encourage more passengers to use public transportation instead of private cars. This year, it is already evident that Christmas trains, very popular with passengers, are becoming a tradition, as reported by LRT.
"Like every year, this initiative invites you to travel on trains decorated with the Orient Express or A Christmas Story theme. We see that the demand for special trips is growing every year," said LTG Link spokesperson Dovile Aleksandrovichene.
It is emphasized that, for numerous tourists, four trains will run on four routes until January 7, 2024: Vilnius-Kaunas, Vilnius-Klaipeda, Vilnius-Trakai, and Vilnius-Motskava.
At the same time, it is specified that a train with a connection to Warsaw, decorated with Christmas decorations, will serve the route until December 26. After that, the Christmas train will go to the new Vilnius-Riga line, as reported by LTG Link.
"With this project, I want to encourage passengers to both immerse themselves in memories and create new ones. On the Vilnius-Klaipeda and Vilnius-Motskava (and later Vilnius-Riga) routes, burgundy-colored trains will run, filled with the past, and the Vilnius-Kaunas and Vilnius-Trakai routes will be decorated with bright traditional Christmas symbols," says florist and decorator Mantas Petruskevičius.
The new Christmas trains have become favorites among many tourists. According to LTG Link, more than 74,000 people have traveled on the holiday trains over the past two years.
