Holiday Inn Express & Suites Brings New Stay Option to Dhulabari

In Dhulabari, a border town in south-eastern Nepal, work has begun on a new Holiday Inn Express & Suites with 99 rooms, planned to welcome its first guests in 2026. Its location, close to the Kakarvitta checkpoint and within easy reach of Chandragadi Airport, will provide straightforward access for both domestic and international travelers. The town’s trading activity and geographical location give this region special importance for travelers who value ease of movement.
The project is being implemented by IHG Hotels & Resorts together with Hotel Eastern Nepal Pvt Ltd, who have previously worked together on the launch of a hotel in Kathmandu. The new property will be one of the few in the region to meet international hospitality standards and will be able to serve both business travelers and tourists. This choice of location is explained by the growing demand for modern accommodation in this direction.

Those who enjoy moving at a relaxed pace and taking in the atmosphere will find that the winding old streets near the hotel are worth exploring. A brief stroll from the hotel reveals cosy little cafes, tea stalls with steam curling up from kettles, and modest eateries where familiar traditional dishes are served. From this spot, guests can sense the genuine flow of daily life in the town and take in the quiet, simple moments that locals hold dear, all within a short walk from the hotel.
A short walk from the hotel leads to Dhulabari’s main market, which locals call the Chinese Market. Wandering through the market, visitors can look over stalls filled with textiles, household goods, and fresh produce, all set against the constant hum and bustle of daily life. Nearby is the central square, a popular meeting place where fairs, music, and small cultural events occasionally take place, adding a lively and colourful atmosphere to the heart of the town.
The opening of the hotel in the town will create a comfortable entry point for travelers, with the opportunity to quickly reach the busiest spots, the market and the center, while immersing themselves in the local atmosphere. This will make Dhulabari more attractive for short cultural or gastronomic stops, and not just for transit trips.
