Grand Hyatt Opens in Izmir After Major Redesign

Hyatt has opened Grand Hyatt Izmir IstinyePark, the second hotel under this brand in Türkiye. The property, which previously operated as a Hyatt Regency, has been updated, including changes to the courtyard and lobby areas. The hotel is directly connected to the IstinyePark Izmir shopping centre, with shops and restaurants located next to the main entrance.
Located in the Balçova district, the hotel sits close to Izmir’s waterfront and within easy distance of the city’s historic centre. Landmarks such as Kemeraltı Bazaar, the Clock Tower and the Historical Elevator Tower are all nearby. The property is also around 20 minutes from Adnan Menderes International Airport, making access straightforward for both short stays and longer visits.
“Grand Hyatt İzmir İstinyePark reflects the vibrant rhythm of İzmir while honoring the city’s rich Aegean heritage. As part of the Grand Hyatt brand, we are proud to introduce a new hotel experience that brings together bold design, elevated service and dynamic culinary experiences. We’re excited to usher in the next chapter for our hotel, as a sophisticated and social destination for both business and leisure travelers."
The hotel offers 160 rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows and views across the Gulf of Izmir. Interiors combine modern design with natural materials, while features include balconies, in-room bars and heated bathroom floors. Facilities extend to a spa with an outdoor pool, fitness centre and a range of treatment options, alongside several dining venues including the newly introduced FARO7 restaurant.
What’s nearby from the hotel
- Kemeraltı Bazaar and Izmir Clock Tower in the old town
- Views from the Historical Elevator Tower
- Urla with vineyards and local restaurants
- Çeşme with beaches and small coastal towns
- Ephesus, one of the region’s main archaeological sites
Its central location makes it easy to get around and plan short trips outside the city. Coastal spots like Çeşme and Urla, as well as historical sites such as Ephesus, are all within a short drive. You can stay in one place and still see both the city and the surrounding area without changing hotels.
The opening reflects a wider pattern of hotels repositioning existing properties rather than building new ones. In practice, it gives visitors more choice in how they stay in Izmir, especially for those who prefer to combine city access with time by the coast. It also shows that cities like Izmir are updating existing hotels instead of building new ones, keeping pace with how people now plan and book their trips.
