Festive Steam Train Brings Christmas Cheer to Bulgarian Railways

Bulgarian Railways (BDZ) has unveiled another seasonal steam locomotive journey, scheduled for December 21, enhancing its festive schedule this winter. This remarkable event will transport passengers on a picturesque route between Gorna Oryahovitsa and Pleven, powered by the historic 16.27 steam engine. The train will feature six uniquely adorned wagons, including a classic compartment from the Vitosha Express, where children can meet Santa Claus and Snow Maiden, who will distribute presents, spreading festive joy.

The locomotive departs from Gorna Oryahovitsa at 9:15 AM and reaches Pleven by 11:40 AM, giving passengers plenty of time to visit Pleven's Christmas attractions and lively central square. The return leg begins in Pleven at 2:25 PM and finishes in Gorna Oryahovitsa at 4:45 PM. Round-trip fares are set at 55 leva for adults, while young travelers under 10 years old can enjoy a discounted price of 27.50 leva, making this a budget-friendly holiday outing for families.
