easyJet Introduces Year-Round Flights from London Gatwick to Menorca
For the first time, easyJet will operate year-round flights to Menorca starting this winter, launching from London Gatwick. This new service results from an agreement between easyJet and The Fundación Fomento del Turismo de Menorca, valid until March 2027. Seats are now available on easyJet.com and via their mobile app, with prices starting at £38.99.
The extension of this route aims to boost Menorca’s international connectivity during the off-peak season. Beginning on November 6, 2024, the airline will offer flights twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, adding 16,000 seats throughout the winter.
This initiative was announced at a press conference in Menorca by Adolfo Vilafranca, President of the Consell Insular de Menorca, Begoña Mercadal, the island's Director of Tourism Promotion, and Javier Gándara, General Director of easyJet in Southern Europe. They highlighted the importance of this development in ensuring the island's year-round connectivity.
Javier Gándara emphasized easyJet's commitment to both Menorca's growth and the local community. He remarked, "This extension to the winter season not only underlines our commitment to sustained growth in Spain but also demonstrates our dedication to the local community in Menorca."
Adolfo Vilafranca noted the significance of meeting the demand for flights between Menorca and London outside the summer months. He stated, "This agreement is the result of a lot of hard work and good will to connect the island even more in the low season, guaranteeing international routes during the winter months."
The Consell and the Foundation aim to enhance air connections to support Menorca's tourism year-round, promoting the island’s culture, gastronomy, and nature. Since starting operations in the Balearic Islands 25 years ago, easyJet has carried nearly 45 million passengers, connecting the islands to Europe and the UK on 64 routes. easyJet began flights to Menorca in 2005, serving 3.6 million passengers since then.
With tickets starting at £38.99, travelers can now book their flights from London Gatwick to Menorca this winter on easyJet.com and via the mobile app.
