Carnival Corporation & plc has inked a deal with Meyer Werft, a leading German shipbuilder, to construct a fourth Excel-class cruise ship for its renowned brand, Carnival Cruise Line. This move comes as part of the company's strategic expansion efforts. The ship, set to be the 10th Excel-class vessel in Carnival Corporation's fleet, spanning four of its premier brands, is slated to commence operations in Spring 2027.

Joining the ranks of the current Carnival Cruise Line Excel-class ships, namely Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration, and Carnival Jubilee, this new 180,000-ton behemoth will accommodate over 6,400 guests and operate on a cutting-edge liquefied natural gas (LNG) technology platform. Notably, this order marks the first newbuild acquisition by Carnival Corporation in half a decade, underlining its commitment to innovation and growth.

The partnership between the MEYER Group and Carnival Corporation, as articulated by CEO Bernd Eikens, signifies a continuation of a fruitful collaboration. The announcement underscores mutual confidence in each other's capabilities and commitment to delivering top-tier vessels that redefine the cruising experience.

Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, expressed enthusiasm about the addition, citing the overwhelming popularity of the Excel-class ships among guests. She emphasized the pivotal role of this new vessel in expanding the company's fleet and catering to both loyal patrons and first-time cruisers.

CEO of Carnival Corporation, Josh Weinstein, echoed Duffy's sentiments, highlighting the strategic significance of the newbuild in enhancing the company's global fleet. He emphasized a measured approach to capacity growth, with one to two ships slated for addition annually starting from 2027, a move aimed at addressing burgeoning demand and optimizing returns on invested capital.

In summary, Carnival Corporation's latest order heralds a new chapter in its quest for innovation and excellence in the cruise industry. With sustainability at the forefront and a focus on meeting evolving consumer preferences, the addition of the fourth Excel-class ship underscores the company's dedication to providing unparalleled experiences to passengers worldwide.
