New Air Partnership Opens More Direct Travel Routes Between North America and Africa

WestJet and Kenya Airways have entered a new interline partnership aimed at improving travel connectivity between North America and Africa. The collaboration provides WestJet customers with easier access to 35 locations in Africa, all connected through Kenya Airways’ hub in Nairobi. Travelers flying with Kenya Airways can now connect more easily to various Canadian locations and other destinations served by WestJet in North America. Key international airports in Europe and North America serve as transit points, helping to streamline routes between the two regions.
The partnership facilitates connections through several major airports, including:
- Paris Charles de Gaulle
- Amsterdam Schiphol
- London Gatwick
- London Heathrow
- New York JFK
Travelers can check in once and have their baggage transferred through to their final destination, thanks to unified ticketing across both airlines. This arrangement reduces the usual complexities of multi-airline travel and offers a more convenient travel experience on long-haul routes.
Our newest interline partnership with Kenya Airways is a continuation of our tireless commitment to more global connectivity throughout WestJet’s network and beyond, unlocking new and enhanced access for WestJet guests to destinations across Africa.
Thanks to the wider network, travelers now have easier access to stunning locations in Africa that were once more difficult to reach without multiple connections. For instance, travelers can visit the Maasai Mara National Reserve, famous for its abundant wildlife and the yearly Great Migration. Another place to visit is Diani Beach along Kenya’s southern coast, known for its powdery white sands and colorful coral reefs. In northern Tanzania, numerous hikers begin their ascent to the top of Africa’s tallest mountain starting from Mount Kilimanjaro’s lower slopes.
On the North American side, this partnership opens the door to diverse attractions accessible from Canadian cities connected by WestJet. The Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia offers visitors stunning coastal views and plenty of hiking options. Known for its impressive fjords and geological landscapes, Gros Morne National Park is a highlight in Newfoundland. The Calgary Stampede in Alberta is a well-known event that showcases rodeo competitions and celebrates the traditions of the western lifestyle. Visitors can enjoy diverse attractions here, from scenic landscapes to vibrant cultural festivals.

This interline agreement marks a significant improvement in transcontinental travel by simplifying routes and broadening options for passengers. The partnership reflects a broader industry focus on enhancing connectivity and passenger convenience, ultimately making travel between Africa and North America more accessible for both business and leisure travelers. For travelers journeying through these areas, it offers a chance to visit a variety of destinations more conveniently and with fewer travel complications.
