California expects enchanting flower blooms this year
California is preparing for the wildflower bloom that adorns the region every spring after heavy rains. This spectacle, known as a superbloom, has no date, but people still continue to adjust their plans to the natural process, which is impressive in its scale.
This season will be a good one, says Evan Meyer, a botanist and director of the nonprofit Theodore Payne Foundation. According to CNN, flowering has already begun in some regions of Southern California, but has not yet reached an impressive scale.
The wildflowers that bloomed in February in the deserts of Southern California will continue to color the landscape throughout the spring until they reach their peak in April.
In the mountains, where spring is still cool and snowy, flowering is expected only in summer. It's worth noting that wildflowers bloom differently every year, so it's interesting to see them every time.
The number and timing of buds blooming significantly depends on the weather conditions in winter and spring, so it is difficult to predict whether this year's bloom will be better and more extensive than last year's.
To cover the soil with thousands of flowers, the ground must be well moistened. Given the weather, which has been quite rainy, ecologists expect enchanting landscapes this spring.
