Angry farmers on tractors blocked one of the world's most popular tourist cities
On the eve of a large-scale agricultural fair in the French capital, angry farmers protested for the second time in a month, blocking the streets of Paris with tractors. Their demands remain the same: more government support and simplified bureaucratic procedures.
Dozens of tractors with the flags of the Rural Coordination, the union that organized the protest, entered the city without obstacles, ABC News reports. The protesters demonstrated their equipment on the Seine bridge against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower, and then headed to Place Vauban, where the main action took place.
"Save our agriculture!" the French called on social media. One of the tractors carried a sign with the words "Death in the field".
The convoy of tractors temporarily blocked traffic on the A4 highway east of Paris, as well as on the Paris ring road. This can significantly affect traffic in the city, especially for tourists who do not know all the detours.
As TravelWise previously reported, hundreds of farmers in Wales blocked a key road to the city.
