On July 18, 2024, a catastrophic incident occurred off the coast of Marmaris, Turkey, when the tourist yacht "Eagles" caught fire and sank. The blaze, which started in the engine room, quickly engulfed the vessel, forcing the 110 passengers aboard to leap into the sea to escape the flames. Seven people sustained injuries, with three in critical condition.

Eyewitness footage captured the dramatic moments as towering flames consumed the yacht, and passengers, in a state of panic, swam for their lives. Nearby boats and rescue teams swiftly responded, pulling tourists from the water. Life jackets were scattered across the sea's surface as people struggled to distance themselves from the burning yacht.

Turkish authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and assess any potential safety violations. The yacht's owner and captain have been detained and are currently under scrutiny. This incident has sparked a debate on the safety of maritime travel and the urgent need for stringent inspections and regulations for yachts and other tourist vessels.

The fire on "Eagles" could significantly impact the tourism industry, particularly yacht tourism. Travelers might reconsider their plans, demanding stricter safety measures. This tragedy underscores the necessity for regular inspections and crew training to prevent such disasters in the future.
