Tel Aviv Flights Return to Salzburg
Salzburg Airport has welcomed the return of direct flights with Tel Aviv after a break of more than two months. The service had been suspended since the end of February because of the geopolitical situation and wider crisis in the Middle East. The Dubai route was also paused during the same period, according to the airport.
The first returning Sun D’Or flight landed in Salzburg last Monday, bringing Israeli tourists back to the Austrian city. Salzburg Airport said the link is especially important for inbound tourism, as it supports travel demand among visitors heading to the city and surrounding Alpine region. The return marks a cautious restart rather than a full immediate restoration of all suspended services.
Sun D’Or and EL AL are now operating the Tel Aviv service on Mondays and Fridays. A third weekly flight will be added on Wednesdays from 1 July. Israir is also expected to resume the Salzburg-Tel Aviv connection at the end of May, while flydubai flights between Dubai and Salzburg are planned to restart at the end of June.
The returning flights make Salzburg easier to reach for city breaks, music-focused trips and holidays in the nearby Alps. Visitors can plan stays around Mozart-related sights, the Old Town, Hohensalzburg Fortress, lakes in the Salzkammergut and mountain resorts outside the city. The Dubai restart would also help restore access for longer-haul visitors using Gulf connections.
The main takeaway is practical: Salzburg is rebuilding part of its international summer schedule after a difficult pause. Travellers should still check airline updates closely, as routes affected by regional instability can change quickly. But for those planning Austria trips this summer, the restored Tel Aviv link and expected Dubai return add more direct options back into the mix.
