SWISS Cuts 25 Minutes Off Mumbai Flights With A350
SWISS is bringing its Airbus A350-900 to India for the first time, replacing older aircraft on its existing Zurich–Mumbai route this winter. The change starts in December and introduces the airline’s new SWISS Senses cabin, with redesigned seats and larger entertainment screens. The flight is also expected to take less time, although the A350 will not operate every departure throughout the season.
When SWISS Will Fly the A350 to Mumbai
- Airline: Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS).
- Route: Zurich (ZRH)–Mumbai (BOM), nonstop.
- Start: 15 December 2026.
- Frequency: A350 daily through 3 January 2027; six days weekly from 4 January.
- Existing service: Mumbai flights remain daily.
- Season: Winter 2026/27; no summer A350 plans announced.
- Flight time: About 8 hours 10 minutes outbound, roughly 25 minutes less.
- Booking: SWISS website; fares depend on travel date.
Mumbai is not a new SWISS destination. The main difference is onboard: SWISS Senses spans Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First, with redesigned seating and entertainment. The airline says Mumbai has mainly been served by A330s. Travellers keen on the new cabin should inspect the aircraft type and seat map for their chosen date before paying for a preferred seat. Some advance seat choices carry an extra charge.
The flight arrives at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, with the Gateway of India and Colaba among the city’s better-known sights. Ferries from the Gateway reach UNESCO-listed Elephanta Caves in about an hour; the caves close on Mondays. November to February is a popular period for visiting, and the A350’s winter deployment coincides with that sightseeing season. Nearby, Kala Ghoda has galleries and cafés.
The shorter flight time is useful, but the onward journey matters too. Mumbai’s Metro Line 3 connects airport Terminal 2 with Cuffe Parade; however, it does not run all night, so late arrivals may need a taxi. The aircraft shown when booking can change, and the daily Zurich–Mumbai route continues even on days without the A350. Recheck your aircraft assignment shortly before departure.
