Stockholm to Open New Hotel Near Four Major Arenas
Stockholm is set to get a new Scandic hotel beside the Globe district’s major concert and sports venues. The company plans to convert an unused office building into accommodation aimed at people visiting the capital for live events, family trips and business. Its main attraction will be the chance to stay close to busy venues without giving up access to the rest of the city.
The design includes spacious family rooms and larger suites on the top floor, several with private terraces and panoramic views. Guests will also have access to spaces for meetings, exercise and relaxation. Property owner Corem has signed a long-term lease with Scandic, although the conversion still requires a building permit. That makes the proposed opening date a plan rather than a guarantee.
“Our growth strategy is focused on strengthening our presence in attractive locations with long-term demand potential. Stockholm is an important market for Scandic, and this hotel gives us a strong position in a growing district where events, business and leisure come together. It is a clear example of how we are selectively expanding our portfolio to capture demand and support our continued growth.”

Beyond the major arenas, nearby Slakthusområdet has restaurants, cafés, clubs and smaller live music venues, making it possible to spend an evening in the neighbourhood. Globen Shopping adds shops and everyday services. The metro connects the area with Södermalm and central Stockholm, while Gullmarsplan provides additional bus and tram links. Visitors could therefore explore the city without hiring a car.
The strongest reason to consider this hotel will be the convenience of staying near a concert or match. Families may also appreciate the larger room options, although no prices are available to judge value yet. A city-centre hotel could still suit a sightseeing-heavy itinerary better. With planning permission outstanding and reservations not yet open, it is a future option rather than a place to book.
