Six New Cities Added to KLM’s 2025 Network amid Growing Summer Traffic
By the middle of 2025, KLM aims to have planes reaching 161 different cities around the globe, opening up more ways for people to get where they need to go, whether nearby or across continents. Compared to last year, the airline is adding four percent more seats. Around 6.4 million people are expected to fly in July and August. The biggest increase in flights will focus on North America and southern Europe, with extra capacity on routes to places like Portugal and Croatia.
As part of the shake-up to its route map, KLM is adding six fresh stops, mixing faraway places with closer European cities. The full list includes:
- San Diego, United States
- Georgetown, Guyana
- Hyderabad, India (starting in September)
- Ljubljana, Slovenia
- Exeter, United Kingdom
- Biarritz, France
These additions expand the reach of the network and provide passengers with more direct connections to cities that previously required additional transfers or alternative routing. People are already grabbing tickets early for some of these places, and signs point to them being in high demand once the summer rush kicks in.
San Diego offers access to the rocky shoreline of Sunset Cliffs, a popular walking spot for coastal views, and the cliffside trails at Torrey Pines, known for their natural surroundings and ocean vistas. Down in Georgetown, Guyana’s capital, people often gather in the evenings along the long concrete barrier that keeps the ocean back, known as the Seawall. Not far from there is a lively area near Stabroek Market, where vendors, traffic and historic buildings all come together in a mix of daily noise and color.
Flying into Biarritz opens the door to a walk along the seaside path where waves crash and surfers glide just below. A short stroll away, there’s a rocky arch rising from the sea, known as the Rock of the Virgin, linked to land by a narrow walkway. Ljubljana offers a scenic walk along the Ljubljanica River with its distinct stone bridges, and access to Tivoli Park, a tree-lined open space with fountains, stairways and areas for quiet breaks close to the city center.
In addition to newly launched routes, KLM is also increasing flight frequencies on several existing services. More long-haul flights are being added to several far-off places, including:
- Kilimanjaro
- Tokyo
- Las Vegas
- Edmonton
Within Europe, more flights will be available to:
- Porto
- Belfast
- Barcelona
All Milan-bound flights will now arrive at Linate Airport, located closer to the city center than the previously used Malpensa. These adjustments aim to ease transfers, reduce travel time on arrival, and help passengers navigate more efficiently during peak summer travel periods when demand is high and connections are often tight.
